Wait. Did NYC Mayor Mamdani and the NYPD just reveal Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding plans?

Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce actually getting married in New York during Fourth of July weekend? Well, the New York Police Department and, now, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani seemed to confirm as much.

Swift and Kelce’s impending nuptials are primed to break the internet — and while the couple have remained tight-lipped about their plans, New York City officials have been less keen on concealing the planning details.

While discussing plans to ensure safety measures for a FIFA World Cup game in New Jersey on July 5, Mamdani also seemed to confirm that Swift and Kelce would be getting married in the Big Apple that holiday weekend.

“I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD, as well as our state partners, in delivering that safe experience,” Mamdani said during Monday’s press conference. “We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events and we are incredibly excited for this one.

“We know it coincides with the Knicks’ final run, we know it coincides with July 4th, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding, all happening at the same time, and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” he added.

Mamdani, a self-proclaimed Swiftie, was asked whether he’d received an invitation to the wedding and if he was planning to attend, to which he replied, “No and no. I wish them a lovely wedding. I’ll listen to ‘Only the Young‘ at home on my own.”

Mamdani’s remarks come after NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch commented on the upcoming nuptials at a budget hearing with the City Council earlier this month. When asked about overtime funding for her officers, Tisch detailed the major events through July that might require additional hours on the job. She cited events such as the city’s Fourth of July festivities, the Sail 250 military parade and the FIFA World Cup before tagging on “potentially Taylor Swift’s wedding.” Tisch then quickly changed her tune, saying, “I’m kidding.”

Yahoo reached out to Mamdani’s office and the NYPD but has not yet heard back.

A city official from the mayor’s office told Billboard, however, that Mamdani’s comments were based entirely on an earlier report from TMZ that Swift had applied for a permit at the famed Madison Square Garden for the Fourth of July weekend, which bolstered speculation that it was her chosen wedding venue.

Ask any Swiftie, and they’ll likely tell you that the Miss Americana pop star is a mastermind. Swift is usually intentional about what she shares with her fans and when she chooses to do it, which is why Tisch and Mamdani’s recent comments have sent Swift’s fandom into a tailspin. Was it a Freudian slip? Or were Mamdani and the NYPD actually given the green light from Swift’s team to share this information? It seems only time will tell!
