Upper East Side homeowners deck out streets with spooky decor

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Halloween may still be a week away, but spooky season is already in full swing on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where homeowners are going all out with creepy creatures and decorations that are turning heads.

Several blocks of homes are decked out with larger-than-life spiderwebs, witches, and jack-o’-lanterns. Caroline Moina stopped by to check out the spooky decor after seeing the elaborate displays on social media.

“They put a lot of effort in this ‘cause where I’m from, we don’t do much of this,” she said. “Like decorations, but it’s so cool to see.”

For Aiden, decorating his home has been a family affair, with new additions popping up every day. And of all the decorations, he said the giant spiders are his favorite.

“Because it’s so scary,” said Aiden. “Even the lights. Even the skeleton.”

Neighbors are hoping to bring the community together and get everyone in the holiday spirit.

“A sense of belonging and also a pride in the neighborhood, and a coming together which is nice,” said Saltz who decorated his family’s home with Halloween decor.

If you want to check out these spooky displays for yourself, you’ll find decorated homes scattered across the Upper East Side, from East 64th Street all the way up to East 91st Street.
