During a recent episode of The Five, one topic of discussion was the disappearance of Today alum Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy. The Guthrie matriarch had been reported missing earlier this month from her Arizona home.

During the episode, Watters and his colleague, Brian Kilmeade, appeared to imply that CNN wouldn’t cover the story of Savannah’s mother if an illegal immigrant was involved in the case. In particular, Watters shared, “Be an American and care about whoever passes away. Savannah Guthrie’s mother could have been abducted by an illegal alien.”

Watters continued, “What are they gonna say then? Is that gonna humanize the issue for them? I hope that’s not true, but that is a possibility.” Kilmeade responded, “They’ll stop covering it.”
