Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s mountain ranch has horses, familiar curtains and decades of family memories — rare photos inside

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s Colorado home offers a glimpse of their lives beyond film sets and red carpets. At their Old Snowmass ranch, mountain views, horseback rides and evenings beside the fireplace remain part of the appeal.

The property has also preserved details their children remember from years earlier. During a television appearance from the house, Oliver Hudson revealed that some of the curtains behind him had been there for approximately three decades.

The Colorado retreat has remained a familiar family gathering place while other properties the couple once owned have changed hands and undergone renovations.

Hawn and Russell began their relationship after reconnecting while making Swing Shift in 1983. Over the years, they have divided their time among Colorado, Los Angeles, Palm Desert and New York.

Mountains, horses and a home Russell calls his favorite

Russell began establishing a life in Colorado at 26, although his work… Continue reading…continued to take him to Los Angeles. Speaking to People, he recalled warnings that living elsewhere could damage his career.

He continued working in Hollywood while making room for the mountain life he preferred. Russell described the decision as choosing where to live rather than leaving the industry.

“I wasn’t escaping. I was just living where I live,” he said.

His affection for log houses reaches back to childhood. He spent part of his early years in Rangeley, Maine, where his grandparents had built a log cabin in 1939.

According to Realtor.com, Russell later explained that he and Hawn shared a love of that style of home. Their Old Snowmass property includes a substantial log-cabin lodge, which he has described as his favorite residence.

For Russell, the ranch’s greatest attractions include seeing mountains from bed, visiting the barn to saddle a horse and relaxing in front of the living-room fireplace.

He told People that mountain living presents challenges, but that he feels more comfortable there.

A television appearance revealed the rooms Oliver remembered

In January 2022, Oliver joined Live with Kelly and Ryan remotely from his mother’s Colorado house. The appearance provided an informal look inside a property usually discussed through family recollections.

Oliver explained that Hawn built the house he was sitting in first, with Russell later adding another house on the property.

He had lived there for two years beginning in 1985, giving him firsthand memories of its interiors. Describing the house as a “time capsule,” he pointed out the curtains visible behind him.

“Those curtains that you see are like 30 years old,” Oliver said, as reported by HollywoodLife.

Oliver explained that his mother resisted updating those familiar furnishings, allowing parts of the house he knew as a child to remain recognizable.

Ryan Seacrest responded to the snowy surroundings by describing them as a “fantasy land.”

Oliver later brought his own children to Colorado for a period, hoping they could experience aspects of the childhood he remembered. He recalled school days that sometimes ended early for skiing and homework schedules that allowed time to play outside.

His memories also include an elaborate Christmas surprise arranged by Russell, whom he calls “Pa.” Sled tracks across the roof, a bell attributed to Blitzen and a present inside the chimney helped convince the children Santa had visited.

Oliver told People the experience felt magical. Similar traditions were subsequently recreated for the grandchildren.

Their former Los Angeles estate followed a different path

The couple’s Pacific Palisades property has had a separate history. They bought it for $4.1 million in 2005 and sold it for $6.9 million in 2017.

According to the New York Post, the approximately 6,400-square-foot Georgian-style estate was listed for $13.49 million in October 2025. Its features included a pool, putting green, multiple fireplaces and a temperature-controlled wine room.

Sir Anthony Hopkins purchased the property for $13 million in January 2026.

The Colorado ranch, meanwhile, remains connected to the family’s school days, Christmas celebrations and return visits. Oliver’s televised appearance captured one small piece of that history: the curtains still hanging behind him decades after his childhood stay.
