NCIS remains one of the biggest macro-franchises in the TV world, as three different shows are still delivering new seasons, along with a brand-new spin-off in its first season. The original NCIS is now in its 24th season on television, as NCIS: Sydney moves into Season 4 and LL Cool J returns for the first season of NCIS: New York as Agent Sam Hanna. On top of those, NCIS: Origins is now underway with its third season, bringing a change of pace for the series’ central character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
Led by Austin Stowell as the younger version of Gibbs from the early ’90s, this show is executive produced by original Gibbs star Mark Harmon, who also narrates the story. Season 3 changes things for Harmon, as he now stars alongside Stowell and shows the older Gibbs working his own case while events from over 30 years earlier unfold. With Harmon coming back in the present day, this sets him up for moments with stars he has not acted alongside in nearly a decade. An exciting update even confirms that he will reunite with one of his old teammates, which was teased in a new set of photos.
Deadline released a new set of images from NCIS: Origins Season 3 that tease Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly’s long-awaited reunion as Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony DiNozzo. The two NCIS legends will come back together for a present-day case, marking the first time Harmon and Weatherly have shared the screen as these characters since Weatherly originally left the main NCIS cast in the Season 13 finale in 2016. The pictures show the two meeting up for the first time at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., as Gibbs returns to the office he called home for nearly two decades.

While plot details for this reunion are still under wraps, this will be a new step in their relationship after working together for 13 seasons on the flagship series. This will put the two at very different points in their careers, especially considering Tony is serving as the organization’s director as of the start of NCIS Season 24.
The report noted that Season 3, Episode 3 of Origins will be the only episode Weatherly stars in, although he is also in the midst of a season-long arc in NCIS Season 24 through Tony’s work as the NCIS director. Even so, this will bring some of the nostalgia from Gibbs and Tony’s 13-year run on NCIS back into the spotlight, with a few less head slaps and more emotional bonding.
New episodes of NCIS: Origins debut on CBS on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET before moving to Paramount+.
