Search teams in Mexico are investigating an anonymous lead regarding a potential burial site that may be connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, according to a volunteer organization coordinator.
Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who heads the missing-persons search organization Buscando Corazones Nogales, revealed that her group received information on Wednesday suggesting a grave possibly related to Nancy’s disappearance in Arizona may have been found, triggering an intensive search operation in Mexico near the Arizona border, she informed the publication El Imparcial.
Authorities have not confirmed the tip, and it remains uncertain whether investigators have determined any link between the disappearance of the Today Show host‘s mother and Mexico, or if the purported grave has any connection to her whatsoever.
Volunteer search crews, who have dedicated weeks to combing remote locations in the area as part of the wider effort to find the 84-year-old, were reportedly the ones examining the fresh intelligence about a possible grave near the Mexico border.
Nancy vanished from her home near Tucson on February 1. Authorities have stated that evidence of a disturbance at the residence suggests an abduction.

Soon after her disappearance, reports emerged that investigators found blood at the residence, though its origin has not been determined.
Law enforcement sources also revealed the property displayed signs indicating forced entry, intensifying concerns that Nancy may have come to harm.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos spoke about the case during an initial briefing, explaining that teams were performing a thorough search of the vicinity.
He mentioned that homicide detectives had been assigned after circumstances at the residence heightened their apprehension.
Savannah Guthrie has remained composed throughout the disappearance, although she has experienced moments of anguish.

She has reportedly shown emotion during off-camera breaks, regaining her poise before resuming her broadcasting responsibilities.
On Mother’s Day, Savannah posted a poignant message on social media, “We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
An individual familiar with the circumstances stated previously that normalcy remains elusive for Guthrie, with no expectation of that shifting anytime soon.
“The grace and strength she shows each day, putting one foot in front of the other despite the pain, is truly inspirational,” the source said.
“It’s incredibly difficult to grasp that there have been no new viable leads, and no significant evidence beyond the doorbell camera footage. How is that even possible?”.
This development follows another disturbing turn as a chilling 911 call disclosed a “screaming” woman leaning out of a vehicle on the evening Nancy disappeared.
