In just a couple of days you are finally going to see the NCIS season 24 premiere over on CBS — so how can you set the table?
Well, we do think it is only right to begin here by noting that Michael Weatherly’s return as Tony is obviously going to get a lot of the bandwidth pre-season. Why wouldn’t it? This is a former series star coming back into the fold, though not necessarily as an agent. What we know at this point is that he is still working for his security company, but is stationed close to the field office in DC.

If you head over to Collider now, you can get a great deal of nostalgia almost right away and courtesy of a heart-to-heart between Tony and McGee. The two have known each other a long time, but are clearly coming into this season in a different place than ever before. They are both parents now, and have to relate to each other in ways that they haven’t before.
Obviously, McGee is reeling from everything that he went through regarding his biological son Mateo during the end of last season, and here is where Tony is present to try and lend a shoulder. We do tend to think there are a lot of moments like this coming, but also ones that also give some context to some of what has been going on in Tony’s life since leaving the team. (We do know that the events of the Tony & Ziva spin-off are still canon, and that the show will not be shying away from those.)
