The Law & Order and Rizzoli & Isles star posted a TikTok video for Squirrel Appreciation Day that has the internet absolutely losing it over her adorable—and surprisingly demanding—houseguest.
“Today is squirrel appreciation day! Had to share this SUPER fun video with my first rescue/foster squirrel, Thomas,” Harmon captioned the video, adding, “AWESOME hair stylist.”

In the charming video, Harmon explains that she’s figured out Thomas’s communication style. When the tiny squirrel makes specific chattering sounds and movements, he’s asking for nesting materials—specifically, Harmon’s hair.
“Now, I’ve learned that Thomas speaks his own language,” the actress explains in the video as Thomas scurries around her. “And when he does this… that means that he needs more stuff for his nest.”
The catch? Thomas has very particular tastes. Rather than using the fancy squirrel box Harmon purchased for him, he’s made his nest elsewhere. And his preferred nesting material? Hair pulled directly from Harmon’s head, which he gathers enthusiastically throughout the video.
“I’ve bought all the things, like the box with the hole in it, that he’s supposed to like and live in,” Harmon says with a laugh. “No, he doesn’t like that. He likes this.”
The video shows Thomas repeatedly approaching Harmon, chattering his requests, then carefully collecting strands of her hair to build his perfect nest. At one point, she tries offering him alternative materials, but Thomas knows what he wants.
