I could barely stand. My legs shook. My body felt too heavy for living.
No one looked twice. No one stopped.
Until one kind soul did — she lifted me up, whispering, “You’re safe now, Angelo.”
The light hurt my eyes at first… I wasn’t used to kindness.
They took the stones out of me, one by one.
Then came food, warmth, and love — things I thought I’d never know again.
Now I run on soft grass, chase waves at the beach, and fall asleep beside gentle hands.
No more hunger. No more pain.
