NCIS season 21 is not coming to CBS in 2023

With the Writer’s Guild Association strike still ongoing, questions have remained about the fates of all of our favorite shows.

As the weeks went on and no news of a deal came to fruition, the Screen Actors Guild eventually joined the WGA, virtually halting all aspects of production for union members. So what does this mean for some of our favorite shows such as NCIS season 21?

We do know NCIS was slated to return to CBS for season 21, with actors set to return for what would no doubt be an interesting season. Ending on a cliffhanger when it involved Nick Torres, we’ve been anticipating what would happen when the show returned in the fall.

However, with the current strike now going further along in the summer, it looks like we will not be seeing NCIS season 21 in 2023.

When will NCIS return with new episodes?

This means that more than likely, NCIS will air at some point in 2024, depending on when the strike is resolved.

The CBS Fall schedule 2023 originally had NCIS airing in its normal Monday evening time slot to go along with the beginning of the fall television season. But more than likely, we’ll see the premiere delayed until, at the earliest, January 2024 depending on how things go with the strike.

Even if the strike did end sooner than later, writing and production takes time before filming can happen. So more than likely, 2024 is a safe bet for new episodes to return to screen.

Hopefully with the addition of more major stars taking part in the strike it will mean a deal comes to the table that will be beneficial for all parties. In the meantime, we can still enjoy past episodes of our shows through streaming platforms.

NCIS is currently available on Paramount+, along with many other CBS shows.

Make sure to keep following along on Hidden Remote as we keep you updated on what is happening with the strike as updates continue.
