Viviana — or “Vivi,” as she will be called — was born on May 1.

“She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble,” Leavitt wrote on social media, including a photo of her and the new arrival.

Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, also have a son, Nicholas — “Niko” for short — who was born in July 2024.

The press secretary is on maternity leave and expected to return to the briefing room later this year.

Leavitt, 28, was the first pregnant White House press secretary, and her friends and staff threw her a baby shower at President Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Va., last month.

Her most recent press briefing took place on April 27. Leavitt had started her maternity leave three days earlier, but she returned to the podium to address the shooting at the April 25 White House Correspondents’ Dinner and security measures for the president.

Mentalist Oz Pearlman was performing for the president and first lady Melania Trump when the attack occurred. He was guessing the name of Leavitt’s baby while the press secretary was seated beside the first couple.

In her absence, the White House plans a rotation of administration officials to brief reporters. Secretary of State Marco Rubio took the initial turn Tuesday ahead of his trip to Vatican City and Italy.

Leavitt was chief spokesperson for the Trump 2024 campaign and returned to the job just four days after giving birth to her son. Trump had been the target of a July 13 assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., which brought her back to work.
