Kat Timpf is taking a break from FOX after making an emotional on-air announcement

Kat Timpf has officially shared why she’ll be disappearing from TV for a few weeks, and the reason is far more personal than fans expected.

On January 10, the Fox News contributor posted a video to Instagram revealing that she’s taking a short break after making what she called a “little announcement” the night before on Gutfeld!.

“Made a lil announcement on Gutfeld! last night & am so, so overwhelmed by the support already,” Kat wrote in the caption. “Love u all and see u soon 😎”

Why Kat Is Stepping Away

In the video, Kat explained that while she’s doing well and healthy, she made the decision to finally take the maternity leave she never truly got to have.

“This is gonna be my last show for a little while,” she said, clarifying that her maternity leave unexpectedly turned into cancer leave midway through. As a result, she still had six weeks of maternity leave left, time she never properly used.

Kat admitted the decision wasn’t easy.

“I’ve had the hardest time deciding if I wanna take it or not,” she shared, candidly opening up about fears many working mothers face, worrying about being forgotten, losing momentum, or hurting their careers by stepping away.

“My Maternity Leave Sucked”

True to her signature honesty and humor, Kat didn’t sugarcoat what the past year looked like.

“My maternity leave sucked,” she said bluntly. “I had cancer.”

She explained that between surgery and recovery, she missed out on many of the moments most new moms get to experience, including something as simple as picking up her newborn son right after giving birth.

“That was really hard in a lot of ways that I’m still dealing with,” she admitted.

Choosing Time Over Fear

Ultimately, Kat said the silver lining is that she now has this time, with her son, who’s older and “so much fun,” and with her husband.

“I didn’t go through this. We went through this,” she said, emphasizing that the journey affected their entire family.

Her plan for the next six weeks?

“I’m just gonna be, like, microdosing trad wife for a little while,” she joked.

But This Isn’t Goodbye

Kat was quick to reassure fans that this break is temporary, and that she plans to come back stronger than ever.

“I’m gonna be so back,” she promised. “I’m gonna be on TV, I’m gonna be going all around the country doing standup, and I hope to get to meet a lot of you guys.”

She closed the video by thanking viewers for the overwhelming support she’s received during one of the hardest years of her life.

“One of the main ways I’ve gotten through it is the support from so many of the people who’ve watched the show,” she said.“I really appreciate it.”
