HAVE MERCY Dana Perino confirms absence from Fox News as she takes on a special project

A floating “hospital” ship off the coast of Africa with Perino on board.
Perino will spend the holiday serving dinner to hundreds of international volunteers and staff aboard the Global Mercy, the newest vessel operated by Mercy Ships.
The nonprofit organization, founded in 1978, transforms retired liners and purpose-built ships into state-of-the-art hospitals, delivering free surgeries, dental care, and medical training to those who wouldn’t normally have access to it.
“This charity has been near and dear to my heart,” Perino said during a live newscast appearance from the ship.

“I visited in 2013 with my husband, 2017 as well, but this is the first time I’ve been on the brand new ship, the Global Mercy, and it is stunning.”
Mercy Ships relies on volunteers from around the world, not only doctors and nurses, but also carpenters, electricians, cooks, and others who donate their time and skills.
The organization provides hope and healing in communities where medical care is often underserved.
Perino described meeting a woman from Rochester, New York, who decided in her 50s to devote her next chapter to service aboard the ship.
“It’s really beautiful to see people living their faith,” she said.
This marks Perino’s fourth year volunteering with Mercy Ships.

She will also be sharing her media experience by leading discussions on boosting awareness through social media.
The goal is to help Mercy Ships expand its digital reach to attract more donors and volunteers.
“This part of the world has come out of a civil war,” Perino said.
“They’re doing their best and the Global Mercy is providing surgeries for people who never would’ve had access.
“It gives them hope and healing.”
