According to Deadline, the series centers around the couple’s life on their sprawling 7,000-acre ranch—a symbol of peace they’ve both nearly died fighting for.

“With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive,” the official description reads. “All while ensuring Carter (Finn Little) becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”

Annette Bening Joins as Their Texas Rival

In a major casting win, Annette Bening will join the spin-off as Beulah Jackson, described as a “powerful, cunning, and charming” ranch owner from Texas. She is expected to be a central antagonist, bringing serious star power—and serious problems—for the Duttons.

Bening is a four-time Academy Award nominee, most recently recognized for Nyad (2023), and brings decades of acclaimed performances including American Beauty, The Grifters, Being Julia, and 20th Century Women.
