- Julia Roberts and Danny Moder—married since 2002—have opted to keep their three kids largely out of the spotlight.
- Roberts and Moder are parents to 21-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 18-year-old Henry.
- To celebrate the twins’ 21st birthday on November 28, Roberts posted a rare throwback photo of them to her Instagram.
Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder have consciously kept their three kids’ lives private—but the actress naturally couldn’t help but celebrate her eldest two children, Hazel and Phinnaeus, as they turned 21.
“These game changers, life alterers, [heart] expanders once were 1 and now are 21!” Roberts wrote on Instagram on November 28 alongside a crying emoji. “That was fast. Happy Birthday my dears.” Roberts included a throwback photo of her twins as babies sitting in highchairs, presumably for their first birthday, as presents can be seen in the background.
Roberts and Moder are also parents to 18-year-old Henry, and Roberts opened up to Stephen Colbert about being an empty nester when she stopped by his show in October. “It’s all fun, honestly,” she said. “It is all so delicious.”
“I love hanging out with them and spending time with them,” she added. “Fortunately, we have had lots of visits along the way [to] this empty nest.” She continued of her trio, “I know everyone thinks their kids are great. Well, my kids are great.”

Speaking on Today in 2023, Roberts said, “I parent them the same way out of the house that I parented them in the house, which is, you know, ‘Are you getting enough sleep?’ And, ‘You sound like you’re sick.’ And, ‘Are you drinking tea?’ And ‘Text me when you get home [so] I can see that you’re home safe and sound.’”
“I have an immense amount of appreciation for both of my older kids because they still allow me to be the same mom to them,” Roberts continued. “And it’s not eye-rolling and there’s a huge amount of understanding.”
Now that she’s an empty nester, Roberts told People, “I think I’d like to do another play. Now that my kids are out of the house, I think that I could devote that kind of laser focus again to something like that, because [that’s] such a different kind of commitment to make than a film.”

“So, I think that would be something that I would look forward to,” she added.
