Who invented cheese? Or how was it discovered?

A well-known cheese story shows how cheese was invented.

The discovery of cheese is attributed to an unknown Asian nomad who, traveling through the desert of the Middle East, tried to store milk in a bag of dried animal stomach. But the remaining renin and pepsin in the mammal’s dry stomach caused the water and milk solid to separate, that is, the curds separated from the whey. When the thirsty traveler opened the container to drink some milk, he discovered that a simple cheese had formed. According to this curious story, this is how cheese was first invented.

His animal hide bag, the heat, and the movement of the camel were the basic ingredients needed to make the cheese.

This story has some variations, but essentially the same story is told to explain how and where cheese was invented.

In simple terms almost all cheeses are made the same way.

cheese in history

The first people to make cheese are said to have lived in the Middle East more than 4,000 years ago.

In its early days, the importance of cheese depended on whether it was able to stay fresh for a long period of time.

Cheeses are grouped according to their hardness or softness. There are those who divide them into four main types: soft, semi-soft, hard and very hard.

The softer ones contain more moisture than the others, but the
harder ones keep better.

The holes in some cheeses are called “eyes” and they are bubbles caused by gases released by the bacteria in the cheese.

Even if the cheese develops mold, it is still edible, you only need to remove about 1/2 cm of the outer rind from the cheese.

Cheese is one of the most consumed foods in the world, from the islands to the mountains, and each place has its own way of making and serving it.

The next time you eat cheese, remember the story of that traveler who wanted to drink a little milk and discovered a white mass, cheese, instead, which has revolutionized world gastronomy.
