The video of a walking lamp goes viral on twitter. The manufacturer explains why he put six legs on it

“I have a 6-legged night lamp. I’m not afraid to go to the bathroom anymore,” reads a tweet alongside a video of a six-legged lamp walking in the dead of night.

This video has gone viral on twitter since it was posted. The video got more than five million views in two days .

The tweet was posted by lanius , who makes multi-legged robots and posts videos of them in action.

The most recent thing he’s created is a “walking lamp,” and it’s not exactly a replica of Pixar’s Luxo Jr. No, lanius’s walking lamp has six very strong legs with a bright cubic lamp. The video he has posted shows the robot walking like a spider.

Unsurprisingly people on twitter air their opinions about his creepy appearance. Some say “that scares me”, or “it would scare me to get up”.

In an interview with Japan’s Huffington Post , Mr. Lanius said he likes to hear user feedback, both the pros and cons of his robot. He also hopes that the manufacturers have seen the video.

Why a lamp with legs?

Lamp with six legs

When asked why he put legs on the lamp. He explained that he gives him a sense of security . He likes to feel that his companion walks beside him in the middle of the dark .

Many of the pieces were designed and printed in 3D. Underneath the lamp is a small computer embedded and connected via Bluetooth to receive commands.

At the end of the video you can see how the little daughter runs away when she sees the walking lamp at night. I would do the same! What do you think?
